A4S Summit 2017

The Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Summit 2017 brought together global leaders from business and finance, including Chairmen, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Investment Officers (CIOs) and Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), to agree actions that will accelerate the transition to a sustainable world.

This invite only event explored the practical actions available to achieve a sustainable economy. Participants will share knowledge and hear how organizations are developing resilient business models.

Opening Session

Key figures from across the finance and accounting world attended the Opening Session of the Summit to explore major themes, such as leadership by the financial and accountancy professionals on implementing the recommendations from the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD).

Forum

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales spoke on the role of the finance community in achieving a sustainable world. This was followed by an interactive panel discussion and concluded with an afternoon reception. Participants were from A4S's five core communities:

  • CFOs and their finance teams
  • Global Accounting community
  • Investors and capital markets
  • Governments and Regulators
  • Business Schools and Academia

Network and roundtable sessions

During the Summit, A4S brought together our CFO Leadership Network and Accounting Bodies Network (ABN) to discuss further action. Roundtable sessions included discussions between investors and CFOs on the TCFD recommendations. CFOs also explored practical approaches to the inclusion of sustainability into strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, and how to account for social and human capital.

Supporting the TCFD Recommendations

The TCFD responds to a growing trend among the investor and regulatory communities to demand improved financial disclosures from companies in relation to climate risks, through a framework with consistent categorization of climate related risks and opportunities.
