Climate Reporting Workshop

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Date: 3 December 2024
Time: 09.00 - 13.00
Location: online

Attending this workshop will provide finance and accounting professionals with an understanding of current requirements for climate-related disclosures, in particular under IFRS S2, and the role they can play in the development, implementation, and disclosure of a net zero transition plan. Participants will also be able to access insights on the recommendations for transition plans established by the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT), and will have the opportunity to exchange perspectives with peers.

Corporations are increasingly being asked to provide enhanced climate-related disclosures, including details regarding net zero transition plans. Developing pathways to meet net zero corporate commitments requires coordination and support across multiple functions of an organization. Finance and accounting professionals are particularly well equipped to support the organization in achieving net zero by setting and measuring interim targets, securing financing for transition activities, allocating financial capital to emission reduction initiatives, assessing decarbonization investments, integrating net zero into decision making and providing external and internal reporting.

Target Audience: Finance and Accounting professionals that have (or will have) involvement with climate-related disclosures, including transition planning.  Given the collaboration required for transition planning, this workshop is also open to sustainability professionals that are attending alongside their finance and accounting colleagues.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The workshop has a focus on the following learning objectives:

  • Understand climate-related disclosure requirements from regulatory bodies
  • Identify the steps to establishing a clear road map for delivering net zero commitments
  • Explain the recommendations for transition plans by GFANZ and TPT
  • Understand the role of the finance team to support transition plans
  • Develop actionable steps to further improve transition planning with a focus on the finance and accounting responsibilities
