"To me the evidence is clear – if we come together in the form of the biggest private, public, N.G.O. and civil society partnership the world has ever seen, and act now, we can create the kind of sustainable, "circular" economy, without waste, in which we would all like to live."
HRH The Prince of Wales – A4S Summit 2015

A4S works closely with a number of partners, a number of which A4S has founded.

Collaboration, beyond our Networks and Circles of Practice, includes project work and representation on boards.

Commonwealth Climate & Law Initiative (CCLI)

The Commonwealth Climate & Law Initiative (CCLI) is a joint research, education, and outreach project between the University of Oxford's Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, ClientEarth, and A4S.

The initiative will examine the potential liabilities and risks from climate change in Australia, Canada, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, and examine the legal basis for directors and trustees to take account of physical climate change risk and societal responses to climate change, and assess the materiality of potential liabilities associated with inaction.

Natural Capital Coalition

A4S is continuing its work to encourage mainstream business to take account of, and value, natural capital, particularly through the Natural Capital Coalition, which brings together all key organizations working in this area to drive harmonization and collaboration.

A4S is one of the founder members and Jessica Fries sits on the Board. The Natural Capital Protocol, a framework designed to help generate trusted, credible, and actionable information for business managers to inform decisions, was released in July 2016, with A4S supporting through promotion and dissemination.

Measure What Matters

The Measure What Matters: a Framework for Action event was held on 12th July, convened by The Prince of Wales, and was the culmination of a three year project to generate greater alignment and collaboration between actors at all levels – global, national, regional, corporate and investor – in order to measure progress and accelerate the transition to a sustainable global economy. Following the success of the event, A4S will continue work with the finance and accounting community to support the integration of sustainable development into decision making. The ABN are developing materials to support awareness raising with their members as a core project this year.

International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC)

A4S established the International Integrated Reporting Council in 2010.  The IIRC was 'spun out' as a separate organization in January 2012, however, A4S continues to support its work. A4S’s Executive Chairman Jessica Fries serves on the IIRC Council.

Finance for the Future Awards

A4S established the Finance for the Future Awards in partnership with ICAEW five years ago to highlight that financial leadership is key to creating resilient, sustainable business models and to celebrate examples of leadership by individuals, projects and organizations. The awards recognize the importance and role of finance teams who are embedding sustainability into business decision making.
